The Valley of the Kings is located on the west bank of the Nile River in Luxor. It is considered a major cemetery for the kings of the New Kingdom (1550-1070 BC).
The Valley of the Kings contains 60 tombs for the kings of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties.
The most famous of these kings are Tutankhamun and Ramses II.
The tombs in the Valley of the Kings were designed in a hidden way inside the mountains to prevent them from being stolen.
The tombs are decorated with religious drawings and inscriptions that reflect the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians about life after death.
The tomb of Tutankhamun is one of the most famous discoveries in it, and it was found intact in 1922 by the scientist Howard Carter.
