Egypt has unveiled a breathtaking cultural experience in the heart of Italy. Today, Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, officially inaugurated the “Treasures of the Pharaohs” exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale, one of Rome’s most prestigious cultural venues.
The event took place in the presence of Mr. Sherif Fathy, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and Mr. Alessandro Joli, Italy’s Minister of Culture.
The exhibition showcases 130 remarkable artifacts from Egypt’s rich archaeological collections. Each piece was carefully selected not only for its artistic beauty but also for its ability to capture the spirit and essence of ancient Egyptian civilization—a timeless world where art, faith, and life were deeply intertwined.
Minister Sherif Fathy emphasized that the exhibition “is not a reconstruction of the past, but a living dialogue with it.” The statues, masks, and papyri on display were created to defy time and oblivion, each carrying a silent message: that human existence can achieve immortality through art, knowledge, and devotion.
He added that bringing these treasures to Rome symbolizes a bridge of culture and friendship between Egypt and Italy. The exhibition invites visitors to feel the same wonder that archaeologists experience when they uncover a 3,000-year-old statue—a feeling that transcends history and connects humanity across ages.
During the inauguration, the President of Italy, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Italian Minister of Culture toured the exhibition halls, guided by Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities.
And Dr. Christian Greco, Director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin. They highlighted the artistic, spiritual, and historical significance of the artifacts, which reflect the depth, creativity, and eternal splendor of Egypt’s ancient heritage.
This exhibition stands as a remarkable testament to the enduring fascination with ancient Egypt and the growing collaboration between Egypt and Italy in promoting cultural tourism and mutual understanding between civilizations.
The “Treasures of the Pharaohs” exhibition also highlights Egypt’s growing cultural tourism sector.
