The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), Egypt’s long-awaited cultural masterpiece, is preparing for its global grand opening, which will be attended by world leaders, monarchs, and international dignitaries.
Recognized as the largest archaeological complex in the world dedicated to a single civilization, the Grand Egyptian Museum showcases the remarkable journey of Egypt’s history — spanning from 700,000 BC to 394 AD, according to Lonely Planet.
The museum houses over 57,000 artifacts, including the entire treasure collection of King Tutankhamun, displayed together for the first time in history. Visitors will have the chance to explore more than 5,000 items from the boy king’s tomb, beautifully arranged across a 7,500-square-meter exhibition space.
In addition to Tutankhamun’s galleries, the museum features 12 main exhibition halls covering an impressive 18,000 square meters, along with temporary exhibition areas of 1,700 square meters and a 5,000-square-meter children’s museum designed to inspire young explorers.
The Grand Egyptian Museum recently won the prestigious “Versailles Award” as one of the most beautiful museums in the world for 2024, and was also honored as the best project globally in 2024 — solidifying its status as a world-class cultural destination.
With its vast collections, cutting-edge design, and breathtaking location near the Giza Pyramids, the museum is expected to welcome over 5 million visitors annually.
